		<description>︎︎︎Fables of water and stone

A site specific project developed in Yunotsu, Shimane prefecture (JP) as part of the residency programme AKIYA AIR, powered by Mujun Planet and MONO Japan Foundation.&#38;nbsp;

The project has been realized in collaboration with the traditional roof tile manufacture Kamedani and thanks to the support of CBK Rotterdam and Mondriaan Fonds.

︎︎︎In Shimane the time keeps shrinking and stretching with the most incredible choreographies, constantly framing stunning nature, inspiring encounters, delicious dishes and sparkling chats.
As soon as arrived, we had the opportunity to be marvelled by some of the craftspeople of the area working with diverse materials, such as wood, textile, paper, metal and clay, who sprinkled us with glimpses of their abilities and passions as well as social engagement within the context of Yunotsu and its creative scene.
&#60;img width="3024" height="4032" width_o="3024" height_o="4032" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/27ec5e896fec69da26f7deac03e6c9c289aaee65469e92eecbe7a5316f024b48/IMG_8361.jpeg" data-mid="226782474" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/27ec5e896fec69da26f7deac03e6c9c289aaee65469e92eecbe7a5316f024b48/IMG_8361.jpeg" /&#62;
Visiting the roof tile company Kamedani, I was captured by the charm of the manufacture, where artisans extrude and press and carve and sculpt bright yellow clay around big rooms, crowded with bulky machinery, while wavy tiles float around, carried by a clunky rail, which makes you bow and dodge, warning you with a rhythmic rusty sound.The manufacturer keeps alive a family tradition of over 300 years old, firing tiles at 1350°C for over 22 hours using a mix of eight clays sourced locally. These tiles are called Sekishu kawara, rust tiles, due to the distinctive red, colouring of the roofs of Shimane prefecture. This colour is given by the glaze, composed of Kimachi stone and water alone, which fired at high-temperature shows a flirty metallic gloss, symbol of extreme resistance.
The Kamedani family very generously allowed me to squat their showroom and play with their tiles so that Fables of water and stone started to take shape. (fun fact: there can be up to 32 different tile designs composing a traditional Japanese rooftop)

The process sees the combination of technical traditional knowledge with landscape mapping and first-hand impressions in the context of the Shimane prefecture. During the first weeks, the exploration of Yunotsu and its surroundings was led by spontaneous unpredictability, following that cute car taking a left turn, the directions I nodded at but already forgot and the road which looked the most intricate to walk through. The landscape started presenting itself with the recurring pattern of bodies of water, rolling through glimpses of willful nature, intertwined with human well-behaved but sometimes forgotten traces. After filling my folders with coordinates, sounds and images of ripples, splashes, dribbles and gurgles, a selection of them has been moulded and carved on the roof tiles, curled up by a fictional layer and becoming a threshold for discovery and wonder.
Each sculptural tile records a geographic location as well as a memory and a trace, echoing both the dense nature distinctive of Shimane as much as the numerous akiya, abandoned houses, frequent in the area, inside which shadows of life stay vivid to the ones that look inside. The project then unfolds by installing the tiles on three roofs of interest, where Fables of water and stones will become part of the treasure hunt-inspired game which is Geocaching, meant as playful activation and catalyser of collective experience for co-narration for the community and the visitors.

		<description>🦷 Unreliable Narrators&#38;nbsp;

Rooted in the fascination of what lies in-between realities, the project crafts ceramic tiles as raw representations of dreams. Inspired by Gestalt psychology’s exploration of perception and pattern recognition, the title refers to the subjective nature of dreams and memories as well as because it expects an active engagement in the process of interpretation and storytelling.&#38;nbsp;
Viewers become co-creators in adding layers of meaning and complexity to the ever-changing narrative, which depends on the tiles arrangement and the eyes that look at it.

The collection of 50 tiles has been developed within the residency programme at EKWC, Europea Ceramic Workcenter in Oisterwijk and supported by&#38;nbsp;Prins Bernard Cultuurfonds and PPO.&#38;nbsp; &#38;nbsp;

		<description>︎︎︎Deamweaving the grotesque

Can the figure of the monster serve as a system to glimpse at the socially constructed reality we inhabit, challenging conventional boundaries, standards, and inviting exploration into alternative narratives through embracing complexity and hybridity?

This participatory workshop invited participants to adopt the figure of the monster as a methodology for artistic, anthropological and environmental research. Starting from the Western notion of understanding the human as separate from the surroundings, we question the notion of the body as a fixed container instead of an interactive, porous and ever-changing one.

Workshop developed with Gaia D’Arrigo as part of exhibition and public program 'Dreams of dreams of dreams' an exhibition hosted by Onomatopee.

Life Loops is a short urban role-playing game which embarks upon a playful journey across vast timescales. The game focuses on decentering human perspectives by embodying non-human characters within ecosystems of a diverse and ever-changing world.

Portàli via di qua initiated the discovery of these portals and the narration of the worlds unravelling behind them. Through collaborative worlding and fictional storytelling, the projects contribute to the cultural reactivation of mid-areas in Italy. The intervention started with a playful approach and the aim to observe the space and to craft new meanings, engaging in a dialogue with the territorial specificity.

With the materials provided by Alpi wood, these portals have been assembled, narrated, and positioned in the ecosystem, to facilitate trans–realities visits.

You are a traveller. Independent, vulnerable, resolute.

You can travel through dimensions, three to be precise.

On the first, the one where you were born, you always try to stay as long as possible, there you are bonded, to people you love, your work, everyday life. When you move, you don’t tell openly, but you give clues, signs that are never obvious but often cyclical.

The second dimension is warm, immense. Its inhabitants are tiny, light, and have a colossal energetic aura around them. They run continuously, quick as arrows, and when they collide their auras bounce against each other, catapulting them towards opposite trajectories, this way they don’t feel pain and they don’t have to care about the other. They spend their time darting, never stopping, colliding, bouncing back, greedy of the coming and sober of the gone.

The third dimension is cold, small, claustrophobic. Those who live there have a blurred sight and the matter of their body is nebulous. Even when squeezed into the same small space, they feel like completely alone. On these impalpable bodies, the gravity has such a vigorous effect, that they cannot move. Most choose a comfortable space to stay, still, in silence.

To survive on the first dimension you must travel to the second and the third, but the people you love don’t understand it and they don’t realise that when you switch dimension you forget the language of the previous and the following. And as you arrive in a new dimension an ever-new means of interaction have to be found.&#60;img width="1754" height="1241" width_o="1754" height_o="1241" data-src="https://freight.cargo.site/t/original/i/6bbdea023ac71369333a7bb2f5e802652a8717f6605caf9a8ad98535473b105f/SCN_0001_page-0006.jpg" data-mid="155631576" border="0"  src="https://freight.cargo.site/w/1000/i/6bbdea023ac71369333a7bb2f5e802652a8717f6605caf9a8ad98535473b105f/SCN_0001_page-0006.jpg" /&#62;

By getting to the core of the communicative process, the research explores different ways to trick and educate the lenses filtering our way of looking at others and ourselves. Using storytelling and playfulness as tools to reinforce empathic capacity and challenge our socially encoded perception of reality.

Sometimes theory is not enough to justify the dynamic of a relationship, and our instinct is often biased by prejudiced filters that interfere with our perception of others and create hierarchies. There is no possible or impossible, but a set of different perspectives, and we must learn how to shift from one to another with more flexibility.

Bipolar disorder is defined as a mental illness and, as such, is still surrounded by stigma and misinformation. Its pattern is characterized by three moments: balanced moment, mania, and depression.

Starting from personal experience, in collaboration with a psychologist and therapist, I explored and developed a template for storytelling, to shape a lexicon to narrate different ways of being and feeling.

The template unwraps through a video and uses the language of fictional storytelling as a tool to encourage people to step outside the socially constructed reality and look at each other with fresh lenses and unbiased filters.

Link to the videos I have to learn how to embed:

The planets from the videos get into their third dimension in the shape of three spheres, different in color, dimension, weight, and materiality. The set of spheres are meant to be personalized according to individuals' own experience and expanded adding elements to the initial storytelling.

The objects create a playground, an ambiguous transitional space, whose aim is to provide a narrative tool to empower the individuals and create new communication patterns and pathways between people that care about each other, developing a third position, situated halfway and mediating ways of being.

Control of a Story, experimenting with the third&#38;nbsp;

An unfolding exhibition of 60 design Academy Eindhoven Graduates 2020 at Gallery 3 By You, het Nieuwe Instituut, Rotterdam NL. Constructed as an evolving set-piece and culminating in a digital public programme, participants will occupy a hybrid structure over five weeks, formed in three acts: Installation, Production, and Public Programme. Entirely curated, designed, and developed by the graduates themselves, the exhibition disentangles and re-stages performance, film screenings, objects, writings, radio broadcasts, and more. With topics ranging from narratology to modalities of care, craft choreographies to invisible architectures, viewers and visitors are granted a behind the scenes insight into the working processes of sixty designers.

What?
A further exploration of the transistional objects developed alond the graduation project. Now the props mediate a silent interaction beween two people, becoming carrier of meaning and intention themselves, thanks to their phisical language, conveyed by color, materiality, weight and dimension.
